On of the best parts of traveling with no fixed schedule and a low threshold of joy is the ability to explore various roadside attractions.
Im a sucker for a roadside billboard proclaiming some natural phenomenon, freak of nature, or chance to waste money on the semi- ridiculous.
I view it as a chance to stare directly into the bloody jaws of capitalism and say “Yes Daddy Please…”
Today I came across a “Honey Bee Centre” and a Glow worm cave.
The Honey Bee Centre had a large commercial operation producing 25+ kinds of honey ( free samples ) and 20 kinds of honey based Mead. It had, without a doubt, the best Mead I have ever encountered. Bought a bottle and have been enjoying it regularly. They had a giant glass wall that was part of a huge hive so you had floor to ceiling views of the bees doing bee type things. Gives me ideas for the new house.
The Glow Worm Cave was something else. Imagine a miniature Carlsbad Caverns with bugs on the walls whose tails light up like fireflies. Sounded like a “must visit” from the road sign and It was pretty awesome. Anything with spelunking, climbing, bugs and booze is my kinda attraction.

It thought it did look like the Milky Way inside, but I had half a bottle of mead by that point so I will defer to the Astronomers who probably were not half in the bag.
